What is the theory behind force "noises"?

Why do we hear that "swoosh" sound when force users use TK? More specifically force choke? I don't understand why sound is necessary when you're simply pinching someone's esophagus together.

I'm referring to the following: https://youtu.be/9pI8IkWa3LQ?t=16s

In the OT and prequels it sounds more like a continuous road-noise or the sound inside an jetliner.

Its just for audio affect for the audience. Aside from the crackling sound of Force lightning, the Force is mute.

Has this been stated before by a credible source?

There's a reason why, say, in novels, movie scripts etc. usages of the Force aren't accompanied by whooshes. It's just there for the audience's convenience, and it changes depending on the medium as well (TCW and the movies have different sound effects).
