F. Scott Fitzgerald!
Has anyone heard of this shitty author? I mean, man, he really sucks.
If you've read any of his work, you'll know what I mean and if not, NEVER read his stuff.

just because you were forced to read his book and have no understanding/appreciation for literature doesn’t make him a “shitty” author.
People who know what they’re talking about seem to think otherwise, or else you won’t have to read it in the first place.

He was only famous because his cousin or brother composed the American National Anthem.

I will say though I am not a big fan of many stories in that time. The symbolism and duel meanings almost seem to be pieces for modern day critics/literary experts to actually have a job.

You're actually part correct. But also very wrong.
I may not have that much of an appreciation, but I understand his literature more than you'll ever know. My 20 page essay had deep analyitical views on what he was trying to convey, how he did it, and what affect he had on people back then/today.
And just to let you know, I needed to read some critics' thoughts on his novels and I found plenty of "people who seem to know what they're talking about" that, more or less, agreed with me.

Wasn't as bad as say, Trancendentalism. But whatever.
I only read Gatsby. I'm also not a fan of what people call "classic authors"
Hemmingway though, I enjoy,
But I'll shitch to my Chuck Palanuck
