What? As in Aisle, Bonzai, Samurai, Shanghai, Alcaide and aikido?

Ai is sometimes pronounced I. Because if you notice, an I sound is just an a and an E sound after it. And don't think I never makes an E sound because it does.

Wait! I just pronounced it dia monds. Now it all makes sense! big grin

Long ago, it was prounced dia monds, with another sound between the i and m, and people just say diamonds so fast they forget that sound.
