It's basically like a yearbook. Except the entire yearbook is dedicated to you. You can control what you put on there.
They'll just know who you are and they go to their school.
It's also an effective way of communicating with friends who went to a different college than you!

Or you could do that via phone, email, IM...which I prefer.
I like to have control over who can contact me and who can't. 90% of the people I know from school I want nothing to do with.
