ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has been synonymous in Mel Kiper Jr. and the Madden NFL 23 Draft since it became a thing and, while some don't agree with his assessment but there's no doubt that there are a handful of people in the realm of media and scouting are as informed about the teams' preferences. So, when he shares the draft, it's certainly worthwhile to look into.

On Wednesday we got an updated mock from Kiper Jr, and there are some really interesting things to see.

"Sauce" Gardner rising to the rank of No. 2 . overall at the Madden NFL 23 Draft, while Derek Stingley is dropped to No.

Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner has mostly settled into the position of No. 1 cornerback in the draft due to his exceptional physical and athletic abilities. The fact is, Kiper is the first person to place him at No. 2 overall in the Lions.

This would mean that Gardner the highest selected cornerback of all time. While it's a crucial spot, and Detroit would be fearsome with Gardner along with Jeff Odukah (if they can be healthy) I'm doubtful about investing the kind of pick that is so high on a cornerback here.

There's a flipside to this: Kiper has Derek Stingley Jr. falling all up to the number. 12 to the Vikings. The guy was expected to be to be in the top 5. I'm sure fans from Minnesota will salivate for this, but I'd be stunned if we see either Sauce reach this level, or Stingley Jr. go this low.

If this happens, it'll certainly alter this year's Top 10. and it'll be something to watch with interest.
