This book is my favourite book of all time. I read it and was just left reeling by the way Clavell outlined the whole feudal japanese culture. I'd never read anything about samurai beforehand and was an eye-opener. "Cloud of Sparrows" by Takashi Matsuoka is written in the same, almost lazy style that Clavell introduced me to.
