 Immortality

I've always been intrigued. by immortality. I had high hopes for the movie, The Fountain, but it was totally not the movie that I had in mind. Thought it was going to be about a Spanish conquistador that drinks from the fountain of youth or tree of life and lives forever and the movie would show that but it doesn't. There is a new show coming up called New Amsterdam about a soldier in the Dutch army in the colony of New Amsterdam that becomes immortal after saving a Native American girl.
So I'm wondering if there is any good books out there that deals with immortality?
