Guy got silenced and tazered for speaking about the election

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/18/student.tasered.ap/

This was in the GDF, but I wanted to post it here to see what the people here have to say about it.

Hmmm idk what to say lol, I saw alot of cops and they had to resort to a taser with that many cops on one guy? but on the other hand he was carrying it a bit too far, he should have stopped if he had common sense...He has the right to free speech of course and I think he should have been allowed to complete his question, and if he continued on after the question was answered, he would be escorted out...but Idk lol could go either way...

The dude screamed like a lady and deserved to get the tazer. They asked him to leave he wouldn't. They escorted him out and he resisted. They warned him he'd get tazed and he kept resisting. The dude also asked if the media would be at the police station per the police report. It was a stunt for attention.

Also, police departments have been getting sued when people resist arrest and things get physical due to broken bones and other injuries.

It is a constitutional right that he gets to ask the question, just because his time was up for saying the question doesn't make it a disturbance of the peace, it becomes a disturbance of the peace when people start to get disturbed... and when Kerry feels threatened... which as far as I know and heard he was happy to reply to the question, which means he cannot have been threatened.

Wouldn't you resist arrest if you were being arrested for asking questions? In a country where freedom of speech is one of our most valued rights no less.

No, the college has the right to have standards of conduct rules in place on campus. He asked his question and got the answer. He went on causing disruptions at the speech. He was asked to leave and refused. Now he's trespassing which is against the law. The campus police tried to escort him out but he resisted arrest which is against the law. The law>>>>>>what you think. Per your logic, anybody can disrupt a movie theater, class room, ball game, restaurant, mall, etc. The "constitutional right that he gets to ask the question" gets trumped when a person violates standards and rules of conduct. Freedom of Speech is not a license to act any way or say anything in every place.

Prove he didn't feel threatened. no expression Moot point anyway since the guy was breaking the law by trespassing.

When will these activists learn that there is a big difference between asking questions and using the QA session as your own personal soapbox?
Notice how he didn't even let Kerry answer the first question--he never intended to. As for why he was detained--if a police officer tells you to do something, you do it. Disobey and they can pretty much arrest you on the spot. And what's with all the crying? Idiots like him give free speech a bad name.

Well, I don't know about you but it looks like he didn't even get a chance to finish his question. Why not let him finish the question(s)?

Just saw this on You tube, link below.

Ok the Student did go on a bit, but no need to Tasser him was there especially as there were what, 4 or 5 cops surrounding him. If heīd started punching them or was dangerous then ok it could be an option. And they did it not only once from what I heard, this is dangerous.

The Police state is growing, like a river creeping down a slope.

Sad that the other students didnīt do anything!

nobody.

here in the U.S. police do what they feel is correct to uphold the law. They are only penalized when they are wrong in the law and the police are sued for it. I don't know how it is in your country......but police here don't even study the law. They don't even have to take classes to learn the law or get any type of certificate stating they even know the laws. The job itself is very low paying so doesn't get the brightest individuals. Every day you see cities getting sued because a police officer arrested a person or tazered a person who they felt was disobeying the law.............only to find out that the person was doing nothing at all to disobey the law. The cop just didn't know what the laws are.

They'll probably get some kind of slap on the wrist discipline for what they did when the guy sues. He was not being a disturbance going on with his questioning as John Kerry was there and was trying to answer the questions. He sure wasn't a threat to any of the officers, therefore had no right to tazer him at all. He'll get a million dollars........the idiot cops will get 2 weeks un-paid suspension. That'll be that.

Why should have he been asked to leave, because he was right?
