David reflected thoughtfully as he leaned back in his easy chair, his left hand in the pocket of his favorite smoking jacket as his right hand cradled a snifter of brandy. "I still can't believe I escaped from that pack of wolves," he mused, "especially after they spit lightning (called hell hounds) at me."
David sighed and put his feet up on the ottoman, which was fashioned from a stuffed boar he had shot on safari in Arkansas. "Alas, had I not made 'freings' with that demon, after having learned what a demon was, I would not have spent the following two days in fear for my life."
There was a stirring at the corner of the room. David recognized it as one of the 'freings'; a tiny, shivering imp he had created with the Demon (whose name was Jeff) two days earlier. "Please sir," whined the helpless freing, "you have created me...you must give me a name!"
