I would probaly consider FMA strictly action/adventure (more so adventure). Just because a show has unanswered questions doesn't quite make it a "mystery".
Not sure I could call that a mystery either. If the show was purely from the point of the journalist, then yes, but since we, the viewers, know exactly what's going on and how it's happening, I can't see it as a mystery.
It's as I feared... Seems there's only a small handfull of people in this anime forum who know something about anime outside of Sailermoon, DBZ, Inuyasha, Gundam, Naruto, FMA, or anything else they might decide to show on adult swim or cartoon network.
Can't really knock FMA though since that one is pretty good actually.
Naruto I might like if I were to see more of it but only happened to see the 1st episode so wouldn't know.
its hard to solidly catergorise each anime as most cross genres lol like fruits basket could be either comedy or drama etc

Any for the two exrta categories I added later in the 3rd post? Particularly the second one: "Favorite Anime that's original enough be considered in a category of its own". I wanna get some suggestions for good anime like these.
I'd consider Mai Otome action. For me, adventure is when the main characters are always traveling around to new and far lands instead of the story being set in some central area.
BTW, did which did you like better, Otome or Hime? Personally, I liked Hime alot better. I don't know if it's because it came first but I thought the story and characters were a lot better. I think even the action was better really, although Mai Otome did have some pretty cool scenes. In particular, what comes to mind is the fight between Haruka and Midori during that battle where Midori called a "child" for the first time.
I absolutely loathed the costume designs in Mai-Otome throughout the entire series
well costumes aside I do agree with Mai Otome being the best of the two with more action scenes...anyway I like them both because of the laydeez..especially Natsuki Kuga..*drool*
