What's that movie from the 80s???

 What's that movie from the 80s???

I vaguely remember growing up with a movie from the 80s (possibly early 90s) about an older brother and his younger sister and the brother gets turned into some blocky statue or robot or something and the sister has to travel to either the end of the world or the 4 corners or something to save him. Does this sound familiar to ANYONE? It's been driving me nuts and I don't remember a whole lot from it, which hurts my search for the title. I am certain, however, that I didn't make it up (well..I don't think I did...).
