rock lee has the 5 gates open, but since he can only keep them open for like a minute (i think thats right ) before he falls like a sack of potatoes, he now has a max of 3 minutes

Lee. Sasuke may have the sharigan but he's not going to be able to move fast enough to dodge Lee with the five gates open. Sasuke's no slouch in the speed department and without the gates open he would easily own Lee with no trouble, and maybe even own Lee with two gates opened but he's really got nothing to stop Lee with five gates open.

Sasuke at his strongest has yet to actually beat anybody or show anything impressive. He hasn't shown the speed that Lee had either when he opened the five gates. Sasuke may have the better chakra attacks and his sharigan but Lee beats him in speed and strength and that's all Lee really needs.

The only reason why Kyuubi Naruto would beat Lee /w gates is because of his regeneration abilities, allowing him to bounce back from a beat down.
Sasuke has no such luxury. Sasuke can't move as fast as Rock Lee can, so his Sharingan will be useless. Other then that Sasuke has nothing with which to help him.
What is this? At what point is this in the story? If it is anytime after the CHunin exams then Sasuke dusts Lee. Sasuke could match lees speed during his fight with Gaara. When he fought Naruto a little of the Kyubi's chakra made him too fast to see, meanign he was moving faster than Lee before he opened the gates but after he took the weights off. Then Sasuke was able to match Naruto's speed. Fianlly Naruto went Kyubi 1 tail and again he became even faster. Using the Curse Seal level 2 Sasuke was able to match NAruto's new speed.
Even if Lee is faster it won't be neough to crush sauske. At least not in the tiem frame taht it takes for Lee to die from his heart expldoing.
Also if this is shippuden the balance tips even fruther in Sasuke's favor. Sasuke can keep up the electric feild that prevents Lee from even hitting him without getting electrocuted.
One problem..Naruto wasn't trying to kill just trying to get him to come back. Sasuke was trying to kill. Sasuke was at full power, Naruto wasn't and was still in control of himself.
Sasuke could match Lee's speed without weight but that's a lot slower than Lee's speed with the Gates open. That speed hasn't been seen since except for when Gai opened the Gates against Kisame.
What has Sasuke ever done that makes him look even half as fast as Lee with the Gates opened? As Gai's student Lee should easily be able to get past the Sharingan also. Not to mention Lee would be running around all over the place instead of charging straight in like Naruto does all the time. Lee is a better taijutsu fighter than Sasuke. The sharingan can be beat. Gai knows how and he's trained Lee in all his secrets I doubt he wouldn't train him to read body movement instead of starring into the eyes with Sasuke running around witht he sharingan.

Thats very advanced training dealing with a sharingan user, I doubt Gai got around to it pre-shippuden.
p.s where did you get the absurd impression, Gai finds it easy to get past a sharingan user? He is able to by judging their foot movements.....if that was easier he'd do it all the time
Before Sasuke ever got the Sharingan Haku was slowing down because it used up to much chakra. Second when it is ever stated it's light speed in the manga. The only thing I remember is it's to fast for the human eye to track nothing about light speed. Next Sasuke is still weaker than both Gai and Kakashi even after the time skip. Sai was able to see him move and stop him even though Naruto couldn't see him. Rock Lee is also superior in strength. And he knows Gai's fighting style. I highly doubt Gai didn't teach him to read body movement if he taught him something so dangerous as the Gates. Gai can easily to get past Sharingan. He figured out how fighting Kakashi.

not up for debate at all. in the defection arc, when he first activated the curse seal 2, he wud have quite easily beaten lee with gates open. as he is in shippudenright now, he will kill lee.
