Before I continue my assessment. I need to point out two things.
First - I consider Episode G conical to the Classic Saint Seiya Manga. (so if you oppose the idea, of Ep G. cannon to the classic manga, then there is no point in continuing since creative disagreement is sure to follow).
Second - Top Tier characters in regards to comic book characters that are in the league such as; Thor, Silver Surfer, Green Lantern, Shaman X-Man, 3rd Age Spawn etc….
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Saint Seiya and Episode G Members try to remember this.
One of the most controversial matters in the Saint Seiya manga, is the constant hyperbole card brought up. Or the lack high speed, constant fast action, big destruction etc. And I emphasize constant, since the manga writes an explanation, followed by an example, but example are not continently showed. Or the contradictory factors, where said character performed said feat, and seems to completely forgot it could do so.
A vary important note is, that its not Kurumada style to constantly draw out, over the top action. Saint Seiya was released shortly after Dragon ball (and yes SS was more popular then DB at the time, DBZ did not become an international sensation until the DBZ era. By that time Saint Seiya was close to its end). What made Saint Seiya so popular was its over dramatic soap opera like plot unlike its competitor.
Episode G; Cannon or Not to the Saint Seiya manga?
Lets get to the point. Officially Kuramada himself has not sated. So this draws the question, how does one judge what is and isn’t cannon?
. Notes on Okada and Credentials
Episode G overall plot was written by Masami Kurumada, and passed on to Okada.
Okada and Masami collaborate in the continuous plot of Episode G.
In EVERY volume, Author Credit is given to Masami, and illustration to Okada.
Okada, states it’s a continuation to the classic manga in the form of a prequel. http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/...05175176vi8.png http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/...1ch01001lr7.jpg
For the reasons above, that is why I consider Episode G cannon.
Note: Cosmo Power can be used as supplemental, offensive and defensive means.
What do I man by the above? Supplemental: becoming invisible, hiding your life signature, flying etc… Offensive: Destructive energy attacks, offensive Ougi’s, increment ones physical stat’s etc… Defensive: Raw cosmo has bin used to halt offensive attacks, along with creating various types of shields, and barriers.
As for an updated explanation on Cosmo Power.
That’s right, Saints focus their cosmo in efforts to yield atomic deconstruction. That is why you see cosmo effect non substantial items or forms such as; souls, astral projections, spirits, or/and even light.
Mu, and Shaka are the two most brought up Saints with physic abilities. Sans Shion (Mu’s Master), Mu is regarded as the strongest psychic out of the 12 Gold Saints. This however does not mean, Mu is the only physic. No far from it, what you must keep in mind that in efforts to obtain the 7th sense, and thus be candidate for a Gold rank. You have to master the 6 preceding senses.
First 5 are the 5 basic human senses. The 6th sense being the mind
This is why you see Aldebarn using TK to manipulate its temple.
Saga, Camus, and Shura communicating telepathically.
Deathmask, locking down on Shinre thoughts despite, being in another dimension.
Dohko, applying an astral projection across dimension.
In one single moment, the state of Nothingness wasn’t self-sufficient anymore and then two spiritual entities, deprived of all materialistic needs, arose: Gaia and Ouranos. Their union brought to our universe the first material deities (Titans and Giants) and the latter also had godly offspring (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Ares, Prometheus, Athena …). Gaia asked one Titan, Kronos, to use his extensive knowledge on space/time to start the Big Bang.
Big Will (the Will of the Gods or Divine Will), which looked like an arrow of light released by the Big Bang, collided with pieces of [reality, space, vacuum of space] and thus it was made possible for stars to shine high in the sky and allow the universe to exist as we know it.
Cosmo Power
Saints' power originated from the understanding of the "Cosmo". Everything in the universe is made up of particles. And the origin of the universe and everything in it is tied in with the Big Bang. The Saints take this knowledge to another level: humans are made of particles, thus humans should be able to use the mysterious forces behind the particles. This is because, the energies of the Big Bang still reside within all particles.
Each atom within a human body resembles a small solar system, and since the human body consists of billions of atoms, the totality forms a "small Cosmo" or a "Micro Universe". Each person's Cosmo has its own unique signature. If permission is granted, one can also draw another's Cosmo to amplify one's own Cosmo. The power of the Cosmo can also be channeled through: Their designated constellation, the Saints' Cloths, armors given by gods to mortals.
The Saints go through extensive training, to harness, unleash and control its Cosmo Power. However it is only released in a condensed form, upon the designated target. Reason for this, is because the Saint attempt is sub-atomic destruction on the isolated target.
Nothing seems to be out of Cosmo’s reach. It has bin shown to resist reality warp, matter transmutation, physical destruction, and effect intangible objects such as the spirit, soul, energy, curse, light etc…
Note: The English Scan are not properly translated. Marin refers to Seiya, stating Particles not Atoms. The importance of Atoms, is explained shortly after. In fact many of the scans have horrible translations, and typos >_<
The mysterious 7th sense. In the world of Saint Seiya, it acknowledges the 5 human senses. It then goes to say that it is aware of the 6th sense (regarded as the power of the mind), where one can exploit its Telepathic, Telekinetic, Pisonic, Cladiverice etc.. basically Psychic powers in general. In order to reach the 7th sense, a Saint MUST have mastery over the 6 preceding senses. Only through personal awareness (free of emotions), establishing contact with one’s center (its soul). Only then can a Saint grasp the 7th sense. Through the mastery of the 7th sense, a Saint overall all senses and perception is increased. It burns one own Cosmo to a higher standard. Thus grant Light Speed movements, physical augmentation, more energy to command. One is able to farther explore its cosmo, and develop unique abilities through the 7th sense. The 7th sense, even replaces or substitutes lost human senses including the 6th sense.
8th Sense
Arayashiki is the 8th level of consciousness and this power grants a human the ability to fully control his soul and go to the Kingdom of the Underworld and still be alive. Shaka of Virgo and Athena were the first to reach this 8th sense. Suicide is not how one reaches arayashiki. Shaka and Athena took a shortcut to the Underworld.
Some stuff to keep in mind. Not necessarily related to Gold Saints yet vital.
9th Sense
The 9th sense lies farther beneath the 8th pervious ones. I have no concreted explanation over the 9th sense. However I shall give a small theory of mine backtracking the manga. The 9th sense is wielded by the Gods, it the highest possible standard one can reach period; that much I do now. This must be the so called “Miracle” the Gold Saints speak of, and the power to rival Gods that Saori explains to Seiya at the end of the Manga (yet it is not referenced as the 9th sense, just some what tied in). Its when the Saints a Saints Cosmo reaches critical mass, and expends without limit. Yet is able to harness it, this explains why their cloths go to a final Transformation that only the Olympic Gods could wear (not even minor Gods are qualified), yet a Cosmo of the same caliber is needed to wear the Kamui. We then again see Seiya at the end of Overture attain a power that rivals Apollo (another Olympic Champion). Seiya mentions that his Micro Cosmo can be raised to limitless ends, to the point of becoming one with the universe itself.
Reincarnated Gods wield the 9th sense upon manifesting the Big Will.
I will update this, as I re-read the manga and re-watch Overture
Big Will
Because the Big Will is a spiritual force, each creation that derived from it had a soul. So it seems normal that we find ourselves capable of communicating with stars spiritually and also the fact that stars have an impact on our destiny is not far from the truth.
While Humanity prospered in numbers, some powerful Gods decided they should reincarnate through Humans. In their Human form, they weren’t able to [sense, awake] the Big Will in themselves at first. If the discovery of aura, or Cosmos, was achieved by controlling the 7th sense, to discover the Big Will in oneself was possible only by mastering the 8th and 9th senses.
At first, three men succeeded in reaching awareness of the Big Will to completely reincarnate in their full power. They possessed great power like immortality and they named themselves Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. Considered as gods by the rest, each acquired and conquered his own territory.
Zeus took earth and heaven, Poseidon was content with oceans and Hades got the dimensional plane where all souls go after death.
Dunamis
Ah the Dunamis. The Dunamis is revealed by Pontus in Episode G, chapter 44. Basically it’s the ability to manipulate all matter on an atomic scale. Its how the Primordial Gods manipulated the universe to their liking. Even the Titans can create their own Pocket Universe and manipulate everything in it. For example a Planet was reduced in size through the use of Dunamis.
Aiolia receives the Dunamis from Pontus as a gift (or way to manipulate him). With it he is able to neutralize the Dunamis effect from opposing Gods. As well as reconstruct his arm and heart on an atomic level.
How hard does the Gold Saints hit? As hard as Flash with his infinite mass punch.
Wait…. hyperbole right, scans or GTFO:sag I have the scans, and I will do the honors of translating it for you. If you don’t trust my translations, take it to the translating department. http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2279/074yw9.jpg
The formula that represents, energy is ‘E=mc2”. A Bronze Saint, generally moves at mach 1, and throws 100 punches per second; the Silver Saints, that are in a superior league, can move between mach 2 to mach 5. With those numbers, its possible to imagine the destructive force behind the Saints punches. However, the Gold Saints are miraculous warriors that can move at the speed of light. No explanation is needed, to emphasize the superiority of that punch at the speed of light.
That attack that super exceeds the speed of light. Concentrating and launching all my cosmo that is..my Lighting Plasma - Aiolia (Gold Saint)
Note: At maximum effort, Aiolia can strike 1 billion times per second with Lighting Plasma.
Its imposable to dodge, my fist for one instant. - Aiolia (Gold Saint).
The enemy is like a wodden doll, that destroys itself when it’s receiving attacks. - Hyperion (Titan).
Its impossible to dodge - Hyperion (Titan).
But this guy… Has resisted it!!!- Aiolia (Gold Saint).
Truth be told, its an insignificant attack - Hyperion (Titan).
I love Saint Seiya, and they are very powerful, in europe they are as popular like DB, the style is a more adult anime, they have over speed of light, destruction attacks of the big bang force, they developed 8 senses, and can manipulates deimensions, souls and spirits.
About the 9 sense, it makes sense, but its not mentioned, not that i know
Thanks for do this thread
for those who dont know about this i put you the last movie Saint seiya(non canon to the manga)
The 9th sense is mentioned in the book hyper myth. So its not a vary widely known concept. But you will be surprised to know that Overture…is …..CANNON!.
