In the lastest chapter Pein's Rin'negan seems to have some sort of "insight", apparently just like the Byakugan (He was able to detect the village defensive barrier and see chakra through underground)

Deva/God Realm Pein summons "king of hell" statue and uses the Genryuu Kyuu Fuujin (Complete Nine Mystical Dragon Seal) to extraction the bijuu (ofc, the other Akatsuki members help with the sealing, but "Pein" is the one who summoned the statue and used the Genryuu Kyuu Fuujin) [cant find the manga scans at the moment]

He can modify his body to make his wrist detachable and shot out like a missile. Chakra is focused at the joint to create a small explosion that propels the wrist/hand in a straight line towards the target. Its destructive power is strong enough to destroy a rock plate(?) easily. Chakra will protect the hand from getting hurt. Chakra at the joint can act like a magnet to attract and re-attach the hand. - From Databook 3.
