(I was going to post this in the Religion forum, but I felt it belonged here since it doesn't go into religion all that much)
1) Take a look at all the natural disasters occuring at this moment. Over time they've been getting worse and worse.
2) Industrialization has been killing the Earth for the last 150 years (pollution, chopping down more trees than we need)
3) The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012 AD. This signifies the start of a new age (either through spiritual or physical means, no one knows yet) and could very well be true (the sun's position correlates with the Galactic Equator, the center line of the Milky Way, on both that day and at the beginning of the Mayan calendar).
I'm not trying to relay this information in a pessimistc way, just to give knowledge about what's going on to everyone else.
I agree with debbie. I voted yes because im so curious to see in what manner it would end. and if it actually happened the amount of panic an riots all over the world. The madness etc. That'd be great.
I've never been one to trust anicent practises. But for the hell of it, I think the end of a STABLE world is here. For some reason I don't see Nuclear weapons being used, and the rest just crumbling.

There's been FAR worse natural disasters in the past, by far. Also, they've been predicting the end of the world since the Dark Ages.
Yes, but so did volcano eruptions such as Vesuvius, and Mount Saint Helen, severe weather changes, and serious disruptions like the meteorite that landed in Siberia, or the one that landed in present day Yucatan.
Meh, Mayan calender ending doesn't mean The End.

Bam I was 4 or 5 and I have pictures ot Mount ST Helens erupting from my house the entire cloud........................the whole shabang........
The end is near my friend indeed you are correct however I have found the way to alleviate your suffering and fears.....................send a check to me worth the remander of your net worth and I will look over it for you when the day comes and you leave us.
I mean if you believe the end is coming just give it all up to me you have nothing to lose remember you are dead anyway............at least I'll go to your funeral!
Humanity always said that the end was near since they exist. People always thought that the time where they live in, is the most important one, and that their current problems were the worst ones that ever happened. In other times, things were not easy too. Probably they were even worst.

Im pretty sure the earth has been alive and kicking for a couple of BILLION years....and thats a pretty long time. Why the hell would it abruptly end just because man came along and got these things called brains and said the world was onna end...Doesn't make a whole bunch of sense to me...I think humans are just gossip FREAKS and it's just a bad rumour thats been told a little too many times to a couple of the wrong people.
I'd be more worried about the death of individuality than the death of everything; my car has a barcode, my credit cards, driver's license, CVS card, etc.
It's turning into some kind of dystopia.

For those saying that they disagree with me, here's a clarification of why I posted this thread:
The list compiled above is why I think the world could end in the next decade or so (emphasis on COULD). This does not mean that my opinion is static, nor does it mean that I regularly stand on the side of an NYC street holding a sign that says "The End Is Near! Repent! Repent!" (because I don't).
