He sacraficed his life to defeat the ultimate life form.
sonic can also transform into hyper sonic and go even faster

yeah, that was shadow. And no, he's not dead anymore. He was brought back in the newest game (though that was a clone) you find out that the original has to be alive somewhere, but you dont know where. And that "supersaiyen" was supersonic and supershadow.

Super Knuckles, Hyper Knuckles
