Which Longshot then dodges and jumps up a tree. Gambit, who then gives chase, "happens" to land on a branch on the way up that collapses and falls, taking Gambit with it.

Hmm, very possible. Then Gambit uses his superb reflexes and jumping ability to leap from the falling branch, grab hold of one of the tree's intact branches, charge the entire tree, and leap away, allowing the tree to explode, defeating Longshot. Back to Mojoworld with you.

But instead of defeating Longshot, the explosion instead sends him flying in the air and crashing to the ground. Luckily for Longshot, Gambit broke his fall. Unluckily for Gambit, Gambit broke his fall.
