He basically does what Gambit does when he touches cards except he can do it to anything he can see. And do it to the point where it disintigrates.
I think Gambit's only chance is to chuck his cards at Storm right away before she can get off the ground and start her weather voodoo.

New Son was an alternate reality Gambit though. Regular Gambit is still pretty much the same item throwing cajun yahoo. Oh, plus I heard he's blind and can see the future in tarot cards as a secondary mutation. Somebody had to be phoning it in that day.
