In X-Men vs Teen Titans Claremont himself basically hinted that they are the same thing,making Dark Phoenix be reborn from the Source.
In fact Claremont's original references and Morrison's Crown/White Hot Room references come from the same aspects of jewish mysticism from which Kirby borrowed the concept of the Source.
