Silver Surfer vs Graviton and Magneto

Saw this thread on another forum and people are saying the team wins. But they aren't really giving reasons beyond "these guys are badass!". Personally, I don't see them bringing anything to the table SS hasn't come up against before.

Surfer wins, he controls what they control plus the strong and weak forces so he can turn them into putty, or lead, or whatever element he chooses.

Although Gravitons gravity powers are formidable, i don t think he has ever created a black hole before ? Star dust, the most recent Herald (probably a weaker version of Silver Surfer) was easilly able to warp space enough to create a black hole. smile

Stardust is probably more powerful than SS and Graviton has created black holes before.

Graviton and Magneto joining forces are way above SS

Avengers Unplugged #2- In Scottsdale, Arizona, Graviton's powers are out of control. As a military jet flies over it crashes. The pilot ejects only to find that his parachute does him no good. Graviton shouts the question of "What's happening to me?" Graviton's powers seem to be sucking more and more things around him. The Avengers arrive in a quinjet, but get sucked into Graviton's pull. Hercules sees innocents also caught. He figures Graviton has to go down. Hercules punches Graviton, but then turns incredibly heavy. Herc drops straight to, an into, the ground. Vision phases right into Graviton. A surge from Graviton disperses the intangible Vision. Deathcry shoots a grappling hook at Graviton. Giant-Man grows in size hoping it will allow him to withstand Graviton's field. Giant-Man hits Graviton a few times hoping to intimidate him into dropping his power. Graviton tells Pym that he can no longer control his powers. He tells him of how he sought to combine all three categories of force within himself. Graviton fears that he is beyond hope. Pym uses some Pym Particles to try and reduce Graviton's hold on the gravitational field. Pym is blown back by a force. Graviton says he only tricked Pym into giving him another mass particle that he had no access to- the Pym Particle. Graviton's mass is halved, but his power is doubled. Pym says that Graviton is now a living White Dwarf. Vision decides to strike while he is unfamiliar with his body. Vision starts to make himself more and more dense as he closes around Graviton. Pym throws more Pym Particles onto Vision. Graviton becomes a black hole, and swallows himself.

I think the team would really win. But SS has great speed advantage

Surfer would win.

If you understand how gravity works, you'd know that both Surfer and Magneto (and Polaris, or the former Binary, or any other EM manipulator of a relatively high degree) has an ace up their sleaves against Graviton because gravity is based on the polarity of a specific partical which can be offset and shut off. Graviton's powers can essentially be turned off with a gesture, rendering him useless (but the Marvel writers will never exploit this obvious weakness in his powers).

As for Mags vs. Surfer, EM spectrum manipulation is nearly a wash between the two. Stamina, experience, and power reserves aren't, nor are speed, degree of matter manipulation abilities, or energy perception. The possible applications for Magneto's powers are immense, but they are of an even greater and more varied degree for Surfer.

I NEVER thought I'd be arguing AGAINST the majority AGAINST Magneto, but here it makes sense. Surfer actually can out Magneto Magneto and out Graviton Graviton with considerable ease. They could get some shots in (which would be of limited effectiveness with Surfer's durability), but ultimately, it's not beyond Surfer's means to just turn both of them off exercising his greater control over all forms of matter at more minute levels with greater facility.

And who says I'm a Magneto fanboy?

Besides, how unreasonable could I have been if I put him solidly below Surfer? Do you see that as being somehow inflated? Honestly?

I don't know if it's so much being a "fanboy" as backing a character with an immense array of abilities, and options with those abilities, that trumps most of his opposition.

Magneto is that damn good.

Magneto's problem has always been his physical stamina and durability.
He usually has his force field pulled down or on a low level of effectiveness when he attacks and too much hours of fight will tire him.
Graviton on the other side, has ALWAYS a force field of high density around his bod to enhance his strenght and to defend himself.
The guy can blast Surfer with concussive force that will certainly hurt him on some degree, and also it wasn never showed Graviton's power limit. In his last appearance, he was changing the shape of Earth continents to make them equal to the form of his face. That's a pretty impressive feat and he was meanwhile holding ALL Earth superheroes. He was defeated can he let the Thunderbolts reach him and he wasn't even defending himself, he was too much into his god-complex to care attention to the "mortals".
It means that when focused, the amount of gravity he can create is practically limitless, he may be able to crush Surfer like a can.

Yeah.

Or Surfer could just wave his hand and turn Graviton's powers off completely by balancing out the polarity of graviton particles; which is the basis of Graviton's powers; rendering him completely useless, and leaving Magneto as the only true opposition.

Graviton is only powerful against those who can't pull his card at ease. He's really just a one trick pony, it's just a very good trick.

Hell, if Thor had brains, he could have probably pulled off the adverse polarity balance trick easily with Mjolnir and shut Graviton off, but it would have made it a short comic book. Was Thor even there with the Avengers?

Gravity is the warpage of space time, It is only theoretical that Garviton particles actually exist. My point is that you need planck energy to achieve unfication of the other forces and gravity, and although Silver Surfer is powerful he is ulikey to be able to achieve these levels of energy. This would be more of a job for his former master. smile Nah only jking Surfer wins. smile laughing

Prove it. Seriously, where has Graviton ever shown the power necessary to hurtt TSS? Black holes are rare and usually only achieved with one of his random power ups. Even if he could create a blackhole here, SS has flown into and had fistfights in black holes before. Seriously, people give these two way too much credit. Against flesh and blood heroes, they are beasts. Against a guy whose skin is basically solidified energy, they can't do sh*t.

surfer probably, graviton can only control gravity at a low level, magneto can control all forces and particles but mostly the em force, {he also cant control psions and psionic power} surfer has the power cosmic, which is much greater than mag's abilitty and graviton's ability combined.
