current, Dr. Kent Nelson fate would lose, even against current Strange. He knows all of three spells. Strange would take it.
But lets say it's classic Doctor Stephen Strange (as in, when he had his own series), rather than this new, possibly Skrully Strange, and go through the various Dr. Fates. For the purposes of this battle, lets assume Strange is packing the items he never leaves the Sanctum without- The Eye and the Cloak.
OG Kent Nelson, full helmet (IE, original appearance, Golden Age JSA-er): This Dr. Fate is generally considered the classic; he went through two phases, one in which he relied upon the full-face covering helmet of Nabu, and another, half-face covering. Wearing the half helmet drastically decreased his powers, but it also made him less erratic and more human (the full helmet basically made him share a personality with Nabu). Full-helmet version could go toe to toe with classic Strange fairly easily. The biggest problem this Fate would have is he has a pretty glaring weakness: for whatever reason, his lungs are suspectible to attack, and he doesn't really have any magical protections against something like being tossed into space or a poisonous gas being released- IE, if Strange used the Eye to divine this knowledge, he could take out Fate for the majority of the time.
Half-helmed Kent Nelson wouldn't stand much of a chance against the good Doctor Strange.
Erica/Linda Strauss Fate lose pretty badly, unless it's at the very height of their power, before Eric Strauss was killed on Apokolips.
Inza Nelson Dr. Fate could take classic Strange to the point where they'd split the difference in battles.
The Inza/Kent Nelson conjoined Fate would be able to beat Strange a majority of times.
Jared Stevens Dr. Fate would lose, and horrifically.
Hector Hall Dr. Fate would generally take the majority.
The Nabu Dr. Fate would win fairly consistently against Strange.
which brings us to Kent Nelson's relative, Kent Nelson, who, as I mentioned before, wouldn't stand a chance.
