The Turing test is a test designed to determine if a computer can think (or convince people it can I forget which). Data is an Android.

I just needed the "turing" thing...

It's still not funny... IMHO.

Also, people test computers to see if they can think?

Presumably Dr. Turing thought that we might some day need the ability.

I think there was an article in PopSci (that's how they abbreviate it) about people actually doing it on a moderate scale.

That seems... pointless...

I mean, aren't we the ones who build them in the first place? Or do they build us?

Well just because you build something with the intention of it being able to think doesn't mean it actually does.

Of course... but computers weren't built to think, were they?

If so, my computer probably thinks I'm a pervert...

Also, I thought this forum was pg13... so why are there ads at the bottom of the page with half naked girlies?
I've noticed this all day.
