Morality Gauntlet

Ok folks, this isn't a Gauntlet per se, but it'll be interesting!

Here's what's happening - Bad ol Thanos has told our group of heroes that he has a "deal" to offer them. He is about to totally destroy Earth, and unless they kill whoever he asks them to, Earth will perish.

The heroes must make a choice between killing groups of people Thanos has chosen, or ultimately let Thanos wipe out Earth's entire population.

Special Rule, Listen Up:

Thanos lets them know that even if they fail to kill through the gauntlet, and Earth is destroyed, they will be kept alive as well as a young group of 20 women, 10 Doctors, 50 scientists, and 20 capable young men to rebuild Earth.

EVERYONE IN ROUND NINE WILL BE SPARED IF THE HERO FAILS AND EARTH IS WIPED OUT.

Who is strong minded enough to save Earth? How far can one kill to save Earth?

The List

1. 1000 Convicted murderers.

2. A 90 yr old Grand mother.

3. An innocent family of 4.

4. A class of 50 children

5. Wonder Woman

6. 25% of The World's population

7. All of USA's Population

8. An entire Alien planet with peaceful residents.

9. Louis Lane, X-men, Aunt May, Sue Storm, Odin, Thomas and Martha Wayne, Alfred, Hal Jordan's Parents, Flash's Parents, Captain America's Parents. (Assume people listed here are all still alive, or were resurrected 10 years before this incident.)

- Also assume our heroes all possess the power to defeat anyone on this list ( But can't use it against Thanos smile )

10. Themselves.

---------------------------------------------

Heroes

Superman
Hal Jordan
Batman
Spider-man
Professor X
Captain America
Thor
Flash
Reed Richards

---------------------------------------------

Who can clear the list? List the rankings.

Thor and Captain America clear this. Hal Jordan might be able to.

The rest fail miserably.

I was thinking everyone always said Batman was the most stoic. So you're probably thinking he stops at 9 ?

Isn't the population of the US something like 5% of the world's population? So in effect the gauntlet is:

5. Wonder Woman

6. 25% of The World's population

7. 5% of The World's population

8. An entire Alien planet with peaceful residents.

So, any character willing to go as far as #6 may as well go to #7 and get a better deal.

Either that or choose #8 and just don't tell anyone. After all, Thanos is the one who will presumably be doing the deed so everyone will just blame him for doing what he normally does. And let's face it, who's going to go after Thanos to do anything about it?

Nar you don't get to choose which ones. You have to kill in that progressive order. If you stop at any, you fail, and Thanos wipes out Earth except for those listed in original post.

Ah, Louis Lane... Lois's brother?

Why does Batman's mother have the same name as Superman's mother? I sense a future plotline developing in Superman/Batman that will explain this!

If these guys are all american, then they die at #7 anyway. Oh wait they are resurrected again at #9.

Sorry, slow day.

OK, I'm assuming that they don't have prior knowledge of the gauntlet, otherwise why start what you won't finish?

Superman - stops at 2. Flies off to fight Thanos.
Hal Jordan - fails at 9.
Batman - fails at 1 because he doesn't kill or use guns.
Spider-man - Pauses to think at 2 because she reminds him of Aunt May. Then clears it. Then after Thanos is gone, makes a deal with Mephisto so that everyone is brought back and the whole incident never happens.
Professor X - fails at 10 because he is a jerk.
Captain America - stops at 1, then spends the rest of the issue making a speech about why he stopped at 1 and the inalienable rights of all people to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Thor - clears it.
Flash - fails at 9.
Reed Richards - fails at 2.

^ Yes they don't know no who is on the Gauntlet.

But you have to remember that if they don't kill them, they know that Thanos will wipe them out anyway (except for people in round 9, which he will spare).

I don't think Thor won't commit into killing innocent people regardless of the situation.

Silver surfer should have bin on the list of heroes. He is one of the most noble guys in marvel.

Anyways, Superman does even start the guantlet as he is unwilling to be intimidated or follow any of thanos evil instructions. He then tries to band the heroes together to fight thanos.

Hal jordan gets to nine.

Batman like supes does not even start and joins supes in the fight against thanos.

Spidy gets past one but thinks of aunt may at the second challenge and then goes to join superman and batman.

Professor X clears it. He rationalizes that by deactivating the minds of everyone on the list he is serving the greater good and hence can start a new world order in which mutants and humans can all live peacefully. though he will live to regret his decision for the rest of his life. He therefore joins hal jordan in his stand against supermans group of heroes opposing thanos but double crosses hal later on.

Captain America goes to join supermans group immediately. Nuff said

Thor does not get past 2. He has major problems with harming innocents. After receiving a deeply inspirational lecture from Cap regarding the value of life he goes to join supes team even though supes still resents him for killing the 1000 convicts.

Flash gets to two and joins supermans team.

Reed gets to two as well and then joins supermans team.

Eventually it will be Supes and captain americas teams trying to stop hal jordan and xavier from completing thanos gauntlet. Thanos then watches them kill each other, and destroys the planet.
