Rank these characters in order, from most versatile to least. Now, someone doesn't to have performed all versatility feats to know he can do them. For example, just because someone hasn't turned a grasshopper into a butterfly, doesn't mean he can't, when we know he has exhibit matter manipulation powers on a grander scale. In other words, this isn't who has the most versatility feats. Two characters might have matter manipulation powers, yet one has done some on a grander scale then the other, and thus should get the higher rank… So.. who has the more versatile powerset?
SS
Thor
MM
Orion
Glads
Quasar
Genis
BA
Hal
Those are herald level characters which can have their own list and rankings. Then what if you added names like
DS
Thanos
Despero
Odin
Mordru
IM
we know these guys are more powerful but are they also more versatile in their powersets?
In this grouping, SS and Hal tie for first place. I can pretty much name an example of a GL doing whatever any herald has done, or something more or less equivalent. Changing size, manipulating molecules, traversing dimensions (or even universes), etc. They both do it with ease.
After that comes, probably, Martian Manhunter, Thor and Quasar. Quasar is limited by the electromag spectrum, Martian Manhunter just has a bunch of distinct powers that cover tons of group, Thor's hammer and magic tricks allow him teleportation, dimensional travel, energy absorption and projection, etc. At one point time manipulation, although that was removed back in the day.
The Orion and Genis, I think. I've heard Genis became much more powerful during the Thunderbolts days, but I stopped reading. Orion has a lot of versatility thanks to Mother Box, but the range/effect is fairly limited. Matter manipulation, but on a small scale, for instance. Magnetic manipulation, but on a small scale. Etc. Genis was originally all about photonic energy, and he began to utilize that for a seirous variety of effects only as he became insane.
Black Adam/Glads are the least. Standard bricks with a few extra tricks up their sleeves.
I don't know who IM is? Iron Man? Infinity Man?
From that list, Odin, Mordru and Darkseid are probably number 1 (Odin and Mordru are generally more powerful, but Darkseid can pretty much do whatever he wants thanks to the Omegas). Then Thanos. Then Despero.
