Generally if you don't limit yourself to classical elements or variations thereof (IE sandman could be Earth, Iceman Water, etc) you end up classifying everything as an elemental. For instance if Black Bolt is a "sound" elemental and Magneto is a "magnetism" elemental I'd say Superman would be a sun elemental and Hulk could be a gamma elemental.
