I actually never have seen this match proposed anywhere, and am wondering why, for you'd think it'd be as natural for writers as putting, say, Human Torch on panel with Iceman first chance they got, which I think I've only seen once in any comic I can recall. Puma's 1st fight against Spider-Man was one of my favorite reads as a young fan.
It could be close. Hank has/had a rather decent HF once upon a time. He should be able to hang with Puma for a while anyway. At least while Puma hasn't gone full feral anyway.

I would have posted this many days ago, but TurboImageHost wouldn't let me upload anything this week. Still not sure I'm in the clear, but I'm going to try:
Reading this now, over 20 years later, I'm amazed at how solidly the writers of this era meshed their narratives together. Who is The Rose? Who is The Hobgoblin? What is significant about Spider-man's costume's webbing being organic (this fact would decide a later fight with one of Spider-mans most famous and deadliest foes)? What impact will this episode have on Peter's relationship with Mary Jane Watson? Etcetera.
So solidly written, and, yes, as a Spider-Man fan it is gratifying to note the Lord of New York's underworld considered Pete a MAJOR consideration for business in the city, important to him on both a personal AND professional level.
Anyway, if TurboImageHost continues to behave, here's the 1st fight between Puma and Spider-Man:
You took me down memory lane with those scans. I'd also firgotten how awesome Frenz drew the black costume/how great it looked on Spidey as opposed to Venom.
