Fun fact: A weaker clone of Danny was taking Namor.

And the race of plant men who created the clone capture/overpowered him, while a just awakened from an "Aliens" style hibernatiin pod tore them up with a bunch of Iron Fist's.

Full disclosure, Byrne also had Namor lose to loggers with a chainsaw to the head (He also had the a scene of Dr. Doom on a pirate ship threatening to take over the world by overfishing the oceans, which is second only to "Where's my money, honey"), so take that for what it's worth.

What issue did these events take place in? Because I smell bullsh|t and lack of context.

It was Byrne's 1990's something Sub Mariner run, and it's exactly as I said. The "context" on the logger incident was Namor suffering from amnesia. But, he's still Namor.

As for Danny, it was how Byrne resurrected Danny after the old 1980's Heroes for Hire killed him (Priest did it, ironically considering how much he overpowered him and even had him beat down his boy T'challa.)

But I'll post scans in a bit.

Wait a minute, you are talking about the "Iron Fist" and Namor fight that took place in Namor's 90s comic? LOL that wasn't Iron Fist. That was SUper Skrull shapeshifted to look like IF. Namor beat the sh|t out of him.

Hmm, I thought Super Skrull was Captain Hero (Or whoever the sick kid who shapeshifted into a Shazam like hero was), while Danny was a plant thing.

I'll have to re-read.

Although you should know, Priest, who invented the character that was retconned to be Super Skrull later, had Danny one shor IF KO him (While turning Cage into a damned ping pong every time they met.)

Nope, IF was really Super Skrull
(please log in to view the image)(please log in to view the image)

and Namor was weakened due to being dehydrated and exposed to high powered heat lamps :

See? That's context for you. A dehydrated Namor was fighting Super Skrull disguised as Iron Fist.

Cool.

I'll still check the run, as I'm sure there's some impressive stuff there (And no two ways about it, Iron Fist KO'd Super Skrull under Priest/Owlsley (Thanks to a retcon. thumb up )

Yes, but the reason Byrne included him at all was to claim this child hero who shapeshifted in to a Shazam like super hero and murdered Danny was really Iron Fist (Who also wasn't really Iron Fist when it happened.)

And earlier in THAT story (Under Priest), the kid is going on a rampage, kicking Cage's arse, and Danny (The real one) desperately tries to stop him in his super form with a full power Iron Fist. Which he does.

Of course, at the time Priest didn't intend for him to be Super Skrull. But he was, so Danny did KO Super Skrull, retroactively.

I honestly can't remember, all my comics from that era are locked thousands of miles away in another country in my parents loft.

Sounds pretty famaliar.

Hope they're in better condition then mine are.. When you start reading (Not collecting, that came later) as a kid in the pre boom era, you pretty much store them like magazines (Often WITH magazines!) laughing out loud

Haha very true.

I did buy a lot of long boxes 20 years ago for them, and my mum god bless her spent a month after she retired sorting a boxing them for me. They are not backed and boarded though, except for a few I hunted up of actual economic value. Prime among them Hulk 180 and 181 for obvious reasons.
