 Marvel VS DC Scenario

our universe is going to be destroyed by a cosmic entity, and the only way to save it is by going to either marvel or dc and gaining the power necessary to kill or ward off the entity. you start off on either earth as a random civilian with nothing and you have one year before the destroyer comes to our universe.

which company do you go to and why? and how will you gain the power to defeat such a being?

and to make things interesting, you cannot ask ANYBODY to help on your quest.
