Never let anyone else define you. Don't be a jerk just to be a jerk, but if you are expressing your true inner feelings and beliefs, or at least trying to express that inner child, and everyone gets pissed off about it, never NEVER apologize for it. Srsly though, its just writers try TOO hard to make him whacky (imo).
Not everyone can write that kind of character, and as over exposed as DP is (a whooole different problem, there) you are gonna have writers handling him who just arent funny.
That leads to a lot of crappy DP on the shelves.
