Are you surprised? Anyone who didn't know any better would be led to believe that since Hal beat Krona, he'd also beat Tyrant (which is likely where this is leading to). Context is something often left out by Zack.
The Krona he beat still had all the color beasts, which should have made him crazy powerful ( Based on how a single color drove off Spectre, and Volthoom is more or less a one man colored army.)
