Adware? Spyware? Virus?
Threads like this have probably been opened countless times, so I'm sorry for "needless repetition".
However, I'm kinda' scared.
I turned my computer on today, and I found some strange looking files I hadn't put on my desktop. I barely thought about it all day. Until, about an hour ago, endless pop-ups started springing up everytime I re-booted my computer.
I took another look at these "files", and they were named thus:
Adware/Spyware Alert
Your Personal Visa (I don't have a Visa of any sort)
&
Adware/Spyware Remover.
But no one's been on my computer, and these programs seem to come on and off, and in the process, I recieve loads of spam and pop-ups.
Now I ask: Are these symptoms of Spyware &/or Adware? And if so, what program would you recommend to help get rid of whatever the **** is wrong with my computer.
-Thanks

Ah. Sorry for posting a thread and wasting space.
JP gave me some links, and hopefully they'll work.
