Pop.
A computer in the household made a loud popping noise, and completely shut down. No power is flowing to any part, from what I can tell. At least the motherboard. Is there a fuse that may have popped? Could the power supply have failed? Did the CPU fry? I just know that I heard the pop at the bottom of the stairs, and nothing works now. Suggestions?

If you heard a popping sound, then it's highly likely a power surge problem. I would guess your power supply is gone. Although in a worst case scenario, your whole computer could be fried.
I would recommend you check to make sure each parts work in another computer to figure out the cause of the problem.
