Monitor Problems

My monitor is an iiyama flatscreen, and I've had it for three years this Christmas. I've had no problem with it up until today. It keeps turning itself off. Every three seconds the screen turns off. The blue light on the "power" button stays on, but there is no display on the screen. I have to press the power buton twice to turn the screen back on. Could this be due to over-heating?
Help? Advice?
