Looking for a good freeware multitrack recorder

I'm looking for a free, non-trial program for mixing audio files such as mp3. Nothing big and fancy maybe only 8-track.

There was a Adobe program that I recall using to do such things. I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

I just want something i don't have to pay for that I can mix my podcast and maybe some of my recordings on, I don't think I need any more than 8 tracks and can probably manage with 4. Don't even need any effects except for panning, volume, and maybe double tracking, I have pedals for everything else.
