If there was no separation from God then God wouldn't make all those judgements on Israel. Sin is separation from God. It would be like a human going to heaven they can't stand the perfect holiness of it and they will die because of their sin. God does not tolerate sin. He still judges justly on sin back in the beginning and still does today. God demands perfection and holiness and that is why he sent his son to the cross so man and God could be friends again. God is like a father to his children, if a child does something that we shouldn't do then God corrects us and if they do it even through they have heard they have already disobeyed and God will punish them like a father punishes a child. It would be like a father telling a child not to steal but they do it anyway and look what happens to them, the same is with God. God gives a person a choice to be with him or be against him. That is why God has humans as the crown creation because of free choice. Back in the old testament people would have burnt offerings, grain offerings, and fellowship offerings, for certain sins, but not all. With enough faith they hope God will accept it, but sometimes he won't. That is why the new covenant is a better one, because one perfect sacrifice is better than a thousand ones. The old testament sacrifices would only cover certain sins, that is if you have enough faith and sorry for your sins, he would accept it. God didn't want them anymore because they weren't Good enough and people weren't willing to do it. Noah had a burnt offering after the flood, God smelled how sweet it is and he made a vow not to destroy the world with a flood and a sign would be the rainbow. If people are separated from God then that is there fault because they didn't do what the lord has commanded them to do to believe in his son and so they aren't welcomed in heaven and they are sent off to where the devil and his angels live. look at what Jesus says in Matthew 25:31 "When the son of man comes in his glory and all his angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another, just as a Shepperd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right, come, you who are blessed by my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked an you clothed me, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me. Then the righteous will answer him, lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or without clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick, or in prison, and visit you? "And the king will answer them, I assure you: whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of min, you did for me. Then he Will also say to those on the left, depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angles! For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink; I was a stranger and you didn't take me in; I was naked and you didn't cloth me, sick in prison and you didn't take care of me. "Then they too will answer, lord when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help you? "Then he will answer them, I assure you: whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me either. "and they Will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
