One Mile Till Mayport
Alright so I started song writing and since songs are musical poems I figured I would post some of them so you can tell me what needs improving. Please be critical and I will tell you which ones I started with lyrics first or music first.
Alright this first one is called Elijah and I started with the lyrics and currently it has no melody or music:
Elijah is a servant of the Lord on high,
Though at times he wants to just break down and die.
He thinks he's on his own,
But Elijah you are never alone.
Elijah it is time for you to fly.
And Elijah shall spread the sea,
And Elijah shall raise the dead,
And Elijah shall set you free,
And Elijah shall will heal your head,
Can't you see
He is Elijah
Elijah sees the coming of the end,
But when one journey stops another will surely begin.
Elisha will always stay,
He will never run away,
Elijah it is time for you to ascend.
And Elijah shall spread the sea,
And Elijah shall raise the dead,
And Elijah shall set you free,
And Elijah shall will heal your head,
Can't you see
He is Elijah
Alright there it is. Please state what you truly think and don't just be nice. I want to make sure these lyrics are as good as possible before I start putting them to music.

This next one is called Price You Pay which I wrote about how people really never learn from the past because you always fall for the same tricks over and over again even when it was you who fell for it:
I have seen so many people dissipate their cherished destiny
All to pursue a euphoria found only in ones fantasy
And I am surprised at the lengths you are willing to go
To try and figure out something you should know
So I guess when you are lost in your insanity
You can look back upon your humanity
Now I recall what you were like along the way
But I guess sometimes that’s the price you pay
Every time you fall you always looked so surprised
You should have seen it coming when you compromised
And it’s all because you gave up on that noble fight
All because you stopped seeing that shinning light
And when you find yourself trapped in time
Lost in the endless sanctum of your mind
You will look back to what led to this day
But I guess sometimes that’s the price you pay
We continue our search for the sacred Avalon
When it was in our very sights all along
And it seems we’ve run out of things to say
But I guess sometimes that’s the price you pay
