Kyp Durron was one of the first students of Luke’s Jedi Academy and its finest. Kyp was born to miners during the dawn of the Galactic Civil War. When his parents died, Kyp was sold as a slave to the Empire. Shortly after the Battle of Endor, Kyp was rescued by Han Solo and brought before Luke Skywalker. Luke saw in Kyp a strong natural talent in the Force. Luke trained Kyp as his padawan, and Kyp soon became a Jedi Knight. Though loyal to his friends, Jacen and Jaina Solo, Kyp had a darker side, which was unleashed when he became possessed by the spirit of the long-dead Sith Lord Exar Kun. Kyp was freed of his presence, and continued on, training several padawans. During the Yhuzaan Vong invasion, Kyp led most of the Jedi forces into battle. After the Jedi victory, Kyp is now a member of the new Jedi Council.
