What an insightful point. I agree that the depiction of fascism in the Star Wars franchise is muted by necessity; the perspectives most often chosen to anchor narratives do not usually include the oppressed or easily intimidated. I do think that it is a problem that our only exposure in the visual media is to the glittering spire s of Coruscant. Even the nightclub glimpsed in AotC is vanilla to the point of banality; the one drug dealer looks like he came out of MIB and everyone else would not be too far out of place in Cheers.
