Marek dies.
Katarn was able to react to Caedus's speed in half a second, and his defeat of seven dark Jedi is more impressive and showcases slightly more skill than Marek getting tooled by Shaak Ti and struggling against Paratus.
His force abilities are game mechanics as well

Marek didn't get tooled at all, replay the game, the novel is not more canon then the game, in the part where you get her to low health, the button pressing scene, he out dueled her and pushed her back into the ancient abyss. The novel ruines characters.

How powerful were those 7 dark Jedi, though? Marek defeated a former Jedi Council member, a Jedi Vader himself said was "far more powerful" than Marek, and a battle-hardened Jedi Master from the Clone War. By the end, he confronts, out duels, and overpowers Vader.
