What advantage could Hett seek if the setting is just endless sand? I'm aware it's his home planet and all but I can't see any advantage he could exploit to his benefit.

It was mentioned that during Hett's fight with Kenobi, that Kenobi was at a minor disadvantage fighting on the loose, uneven terrain of the sand, whereas Hett was not. I guess it could just be chalked up to the few years he was leading the sand people and that may not exactly apply to pre-purge Hett.
