There's not that much of a difference. Most Council members are pure unknowns. We have weaklings like Xedrix and Vowrawn on the Council, as well.
Considering that even novel Scourge one-shotted Xedrix after being downed by Xedrix's cheap-shot Lightning, it wouldn't be difficult to imagine Xedrix being killed by a mere bolt of Lightning or a telekinetic wave in the Force power crossfire.

Agreed, that still doesn't mean that the DC team will have anyone like them. Personally I see it consisting of Thanaton, Marr, Arho, Nyriss, Jadus, Baras, Arkous, that's already more than enough to take out the trio, add any five and it's just a stomp
