Asian Dialogue in Movies.
I saw in some movies like Jet Li's Fearless, Chinese Connection/Fist of Fury, Return of Chen Zhen, and Jing Wu Chen Zhen that the chinese are speaking to the japanese like there is no problem at all. The Chinese and Japanese language is different and I always wondered how they were able to understand each other?

Watch the movies again. Most of them make it clear at times they speak each other's language. The Japanese occupied China in some places and even spied on each other sending in sleeper agents. So both sides have many that have learned each other's language one way or the other.
Look at Ip man 1 and 3, it is displayed there very well.

Re: Asian Dialogue in Movies.
Yes. In short, the characters are either multi-lingual, or at least enough to get by.
