He didn't really hurt Superman. Supes kind of held back to maintain that he was Batman, then he just kind of owned everyone.
This same Superman one shotted Kalibak.

No, he wasn't nearly that smart in those episodes.
He reacts very slowly, always gets tagged a good dozen of times before managing to do anything.
Kalibak is a nobody in both comics and TASverse... Grundy actually has better feats than him and Batman one-shotted Solomon G in the cartoon and three-shotted in comics.
Kalibak beat down Wonder Woman...that counts..kinda?
