I loved it. Nice retro feel, great plot, great hero, great story. Probably one of my top ten animated films as well.

I'm in full agreement. It's a rare thing when a cartoon movie can glue me to a seat, but I only have to hear the theme music for The Iron Giant and I'm down for the count until the credits roll.
I think I know a guy who worked on the rocket effects for the Giant's feet, hehe...

[SPOILER - highlight to read]: I loved it apart from the one vignette where it looked like the flipping out giant might have blown up a tank that still had a soldier in it. The ending was best though.
