Any comic where Thor, the Celestials or Guy Gardner kicks ass is a personal favourite. I also dig the New x-men issues with Kid Omega.

The Amazing Spider-Man vol. 1, #121 & #122
It showed what being a hero really meant. And why anyone who really understood what the cost was wouldn't want it. To me that will always be the single greatest moment in comics & by far the most real.
IMO Thats how the movie should've went too. Just imagine the difference that version would have made! Keep her hair blond, call her Gwen like you should have and let history run its course.
It really showed for the first time in comics that being a hero wasn't about powers and good deeds but about sacrifice and what doing the right thing can cost you.
I was gonna but I read the first issue and decided to drop it. It destroyed everything the first two volumes set up. It was like watching Jeph Loeb take a crap on Millar's artistic masterpiece.
Fortunately after vol4 Millar returns for vol 5 so that might be good
As for favourite comics, it's still early days but I'm loving the new Captain Britain series (issue 1 was sooo good). Scott Pilgrim is fantastic (vol/issue/whatever 4 was the best so far).
Probably the series that has been consistently fantastic and everyone should be reading is Brubaker's run on Captain America. It's amazing. (best issue? maybe #25)
Also, whatever issue was coolest from the Sinestro Corps War. It's the only arc in recent memory where I was noticeably excited when new issues would come out. Just the right mix of good writing and old-fashioned cosmic superhero punchin'
