Ninth iteration of reality? Not being as reboot-heavy as DC throughout their history, I'm struggling to get anywhere near that number.

it stems from the reboot (scans from ultimates):

gotta read down a couple scans but each of the iterations are mentioned. but it thought after the multiverse collapsed, reed and the others created the eighth iteration...? geez, keeping them straight is a pain.

^ I'm thinking someone at Marvel lost count, because as of 'The Ultimates' there were 8 iterations of reality, not 9... Either that, or there is an iteration we never knew about until now. /shrug

...We'll see if that figure is redacted in issues to come, or if they just go with it.

The first issue was good(Pymtron killing Magus was certainly a "holy f*ck!" moment), but I feel like I should read some of the tie-ins, because I have no idea how some of these characters ended up with Infinity Gems... confused

Carol can use the reality stone to tap-into the multiverse, and communicate with all others who possess it on their world(s):

I liked when the Illuminati had the Infinity stones.

So, according to this new age understanding, the "first" iteration (multiversal) embodiment was the 'Infinity Being' ... and the Infinity Stones is still the personification of the 'Infinity Being's' powers. ... meh, about the same as Starlin's original vision with the exception of multple "iterations." Initially it was just the 'Infinity Being' first, and then Eternity/Infinity. Well, at least the IG continues being the make-up of the all-encompassing Multiverse. Although not surprising when we look at "Infinity War's" uber accomplishments with an incomplete IG no less.

Thats not what current continuity says at all.

The Ultimates comic showed that the 1st cosmos was the 1st Firmament and then iteration 2 is stated to be the "1st of the new breed" i.e the 1st Eternity-like cosmos that derived from the 1st Firmament.

The Infinity Being was a universal being that resided within the universe. No mention of it being the 1st iteration of the multiverse, or a universal creator or its death resulting in the creation of anything but the Infinity Stones. You're mixing and matching current and outdated continuities.

Interesting, then the Infinity Being gets retcon and now doesn't exists because the First Firmament was the first iteration of the multiverse?

No.

The Infinity Being existed just before the 8th iteration of reality. As GS said, when the IB committed cosmic suicide, it left behind 6 aspects of itself in the form of the Infinity Gems:

... Ok, interesting and I love u, but also No mention of the IB being a "universal being" either or "residing within" the or any universe. Imo, the context places the IB between the 7th and 8th multiverse, "before the creation of the 8th iteration a solitary all-powerful" (omnipotent) cat dies and the most powerful artifact (infinity gems/stones) in any given universe materializes. Well, not to mention that there's a set of six in every universe deriving from ONE entity according to this retcon. That part of the explanation in the scans a bit vague so open to interpretation. The question then remains, was the IB the lone surviving existence after the 7th imploded? Did the IB manifest after the 7th imploded before the 8th was created? Did the IB always exist outside reality in the void on its own terms?

Youre making this a whole world of complicated when in reality its quite simple. wink

As you know theres a Multi Eternity and his universal Eternity subdivisions.

If Multi Eternity goes kaput then so do these subdivisions as they are a part of his bigger whole.

So when the creation cycle went from iteration 7 of the multiverse to iteration 8 of the multiverse it was also going from iteration 7 of 616 Eternity to iteration 8 of 616 Eternity.

Multi-Eternity is reality and his subdivision 616 can also be referred to as reality as they are one and the same.

So where the scan refers to the Infinity Being existing before the 8th iteration of reality, knowing that 1)the Infinity Being has never ever been referred to as a multiversal entity but instead multiple references exist to it being a universal entity 2) that each unique universe has its own set of unique Infinity Gems which only function in their native reality i think Marvel has been quite clear in their representation of this entity as a universal level being.

The very fact that the scan says following his suicide his essence was split into 6 aspects confirms that it is referring to a single universes history only. Otherwise it would have stated that his essence left 6 aspects of itself in each reality of the multiverse.

It never stated that as we're not dealing with a multiversal entity here, we're dealing with a universal entity that has countless alternate reality counterparts throughout the multiverse hence the unique stones in each. Because it never stated or even implied that its not really something you can credibly argue either. But if its a belief that you hold dear then whilst it is not officially supported, may it bring you comfort. Its just best not to bring it up in public discussion.

Good to see you

big grin
