*Keep in mind the everytime you see another Earth getting destroyed, it is also that entire Universe which is destroyed as well*
Let's get started!
At the dawn of time, the their was a Multiverse in DC, but that is about to change:
An alternate Universe (containing Earth 4) is destroyed:
The Monitor has sensed the damage to the entirety of the Multiverse for some time now, and he recruits some heroes to combat this danger before everything is lost:
Flash, whom was under the control of Anti-Monitor, momentarily breaks through the timestream to try and find help. Anti-Monitor destroys him from another Universe:
The Monitor explains what Anti-Monitor has done to the Multiverse....
"More then one thousand Universes have perished.... The Anti-Matter force spreads outward, engulfing one Universe, then another. It destroys all life, all hope."
Each Universe Anti-Monitor destroys, he absorbs it's power:
"If you fail, I will be helpless to prevent my foe from destroying ALL that exists":
The Guardians are just now senseing the imposing danger to ALL that is....
"We need the complete Green Lantern Corps...... And even then, I fear for our success!".
Anti-Monitor speaks to the Guardians, and blasts them away like children. He did this through their own power source :

Anti-Monitor is beginning to destroy the last of the Universes that exist in the Multiverse...
"When I am done, ALL of Monitors Universes shall be destroyed!"
"Universe after Universe, world after world have fallen before me...... How many worlds do I now control? How many lives are now mine?":
Even Brainiac can now sense this threat to ALL that is.
"For the first time since his conversion, Brainiac experiences fear":
Another Universe is destroyed by Anti-Monitor. However, this scan also shows that not only are the present Universes and timelines destroyed, but the past timeline are destroyed as well (this scan took place in 1879):
We see Another Universe being destroyed:
If Anti-Monitor continues his destroying/absorbing frenzy, nothing would be able to stop him:
Because Anti-Monitor is toying around with the Universes, the Natural laws of physics no longer apply in reality:
AM proves this by beating PC Superman to within an inch of his life, before PC Supergirl intervenes:
Supergirl managed to breach AM's shell, but not before she was killed:
Anti-Monitor was not destroyed however. He simply created a new shell around his pure energy form:
Instead of destroying the remaining 5 Universes by himself, AM constructs a canon (In his Anti-Matter Universe), which has the ability to destroy the rest of the Universes at once:
After his canon was destroyed by an alternate Flash (whom in turn was killed), AM was enraged......
THIS IS FOR EVERYONE THAT THINKS ANTI-MONITOR CAN'T ABSORB A UNIVERSE UNDER HIS OWN POWER!
AM absorbs the entirety of the Anti-Matter Universe by himself:
Spectre informs the remaining heroes that Anti-Monitor has gained the power to travel to the dawn of Time....
From there AM will be able to eliminate ALL life that exists:
A host of the most powerful heroes assemble to wage war with Anti-Monitor....
AM absorbs all of their powers and adds them to his own:
The only being powerful enough to stop Anti-Monitor was the Spectre himself:
But not even Spectre was powerful enough to beat AM by alone. He had to take on the powers of the most powerful sorcerors in existance:
Spectre had so much power at this point that he was able to see concepts undreamt of by even his Master (God):
Not even this last ditch effort was enough to kill AM, as he then became one with the Anti-Matter Universe, and merged Postivie-Matter Universe 1 with it:
After he was eventually beaten by exploiting a weakness he momentarily had in his slightly depoweded state, the heroes prevailed, but not without great losses....
Every Positive-Matter Universe AM destroyed, was accomplished by him harnessing the Anti-Matter force itself, and spreading it across the Universes.
There is not one mention of him actually using tech to destroy/absorb a single Universe throughout the entire COIE arch.
The only time AM was going to use tech to destroy any Universes, was when he created his super-canon, this however, was destroyed before it could even be used.
So in answer to your question, every Universe AM destroyed/absorbed, was done under his own power.
Anyone who says differently is speaking out of pure speculation, as there is no evidence to the contrary....

I just needed to squash this rumor that I heard a while ago....
The Machine Towers that form on every World, in every Time-Line, in every Universe that AM destroys, do not aide in his absorption of that Planet/Universe at all!
They simply release his Shadow-Minions from the Anti-Matter Universe onto that World:
The Towers are more of a gateway between Universes then anything.

Alexander Luthor jr. created a Machine Tower, from the corpse of Anti-Monitor himself:
Luthor sought to bring back the entire Multiverse which AM had previously destroyed, in order to try and form the "Perfect Earth".....
"I need the rest of the Multiverse back as well....... I need thousands and thousands of Worlds back.":
(This is also a testament as to how many Universes Anti-Monitor destroyed, "Thousands and Thousands")
"At last. It will be undone.":
The Tower which Luthor created from the remains of Anti-Monitor, acted as a kind of tuning fork, which made Multiversal feats like these possible....
Luthor recreates all of the former Earths that once existed in the Multiverse:
Luthor fused various Earths together:
Once this Tower was destroyed, everything became as it was:
Even in death, Anti-Monitor was more powerful then anyone had imagined.
