I. Origin
So Vulcan has a very interesting story, His mother and father were abducted by the Shiar, in an attempt to escape Corsair (Gabriel's father) attacked the Emperor D'Ken. As a punishment D'Ken had Gabriel's mother murdered while his father was forced to watch. After she was killed they forcibly removed the yet born child from the womb and took him to the Shiar homeworld. After he arrived there he was put into an incubator until he was of the right age to be used as a slave.
Vulcan's first appearance was in Deadly Genesis #1 where he returns from an exile in space (note I will be posting only his first 2 scans here as the others have more relevance to other sections.)
Stated to be way past Omega by Rachel Summers. This form of energy he received to bump him up tot his was when he was awoken by a backlash of the energies from M-Day he absorbed.
Then in X-Men Deadly Genesis #6 he is stated to be Past Omega level by Professor Xavier, making him the only Past Omega level mutant along with Franklin Richards and Absolon Mercator.
Vulcan doesn't have a healing factor in the same sense that Wolverine or Deadpool does. But rather he uses his energy to heal himself.
On this occasion he is blasted by a full on scream from Black Bolt at close range. He is stripped of his skin but he quickly recovers stating that Black Bolt can't kill him as he can just rebuild himself.
Havok who is powered by the energy of a star (after absorbing the energy of Hodinn) proceeds to attack Vulcan who shows hardly any visible signs of damage to his body, whether he was healing while this was happening or it was just his durability I am not sure. But I thought it was a good set of scans to show.
Vulcan also had the ability to suppress mutagenic auras thereby negating a mutants powers. He used this ability to disable Cyclops and Rachel Grey's abilities. Rachel states that her power was coming back after some time. But it's revealed Vulcan done this specifically so he could siphon her mind reading power. Note if it was wearing out Cyclops would have killed Rachel by now.
Now one of the bets parts about Vulcan, his fights. Hope you enjoy. Note I will be placing them in chronological order so you get an idea of how Vulcan evolved as a character over time.
Vulcan vs Cyclops and Wolverine.
Vulcan shows some notable abilities here. Namely being able to manipulate the energy of Cyclops's blast shut down the nerves in Wolverines body and states that he shut off the signals in Rachel Summers brain for a few seconds.
Vulcan vs members of the Shiar Imperial Guard plus Gladiator.
This is actually a good fight to showcase one of Vulcan's weaknesses, the fact that he is stubborn and very hot headed. Halfway through the fight we have Cosmo and Neutron who begin to absorb his power, and with Vulcan if he expends too much of his power he becomes weaker. So when he has had some of his energy absorbed he still challenges Gladiator, attacking him in a weakened state. Which allows Gladiator to inflict the injury that left Vulcan with the scar on his eye.
Vulcan and the Shiar Imperial Guard vs the Uncanny X-Men.
Vulcan at the start blocks an attack from Havok then as he is distracted by Rachel Summers after she manipulated his energy blast. Polaris uses this time to effectively crush the majority of Vulcan's insides. Severely weakening him.
The Eldest was a supremely powerful being who was powered by his entire species. He was virtually impervious to harm as shown in this battle. Vulcan later on discovered his source of power as shown in my energy absorption section.
Vulcan, Havok and Gladiator vs the Eldest round 2.
This time with all of them together this helps Vulcan a bit. As Vulcan isn't the thinking type and usually goes head on. With 3 of them fighting the Eldest this gives Havok the time to analyse that the Eldest is powered by a form of energy. An energy that Vulcan swiftly removes from him.
On this occasion Havok is at one of his most powerful levels. He in his words dropped himself into a star. He attacks Vulcan with this said power and Vulcan appears to show no physical damage from it. Havok says he is about to kill Gabriel but whether he would have actually died from another hit is not known.
Now this is one of my favourite fights from Vulcan. This is an interesting fight because we get a new dimension to Vulcan absorption ability. We now discover that to him magic is just another form of energy and then he proceeds to absorb Warlock of his power. The next scan that follows shows a briefing given by Warlock saying that Vulcan absorbed so much of his power that he had no choice but to evade him.
Now is the time for Vulcan's final fight in his life (if he did die that is). This fight actually is very impressive for Vulcan. Although he gets hit by what looks like a very powerful scream from Black Bolt he still managed to rise up from it. Overall another brilliant battle.
So I just wanted to say thanks for whoever viewed this thread and enjoyed it. The next category I am adding will be a mix up of various energy blasts Vulan has done and other miscellaneous feats that couldn't really be categorized. I will be putting all these images in now.
So for all intents and purposes this respect thread is finished. Hope everyone enjoyed it.
Yeah there was a What If where the battle on Krakoa turned out different. I wasn't sure whether non canon was allowed on threads or not. Do what ifs count as non canon?
So here is some scans from the What Ifs. So far I only have the Rise and Fall of the Shiar Empire What If. I am looking for the other one and I will update as I can.
Here is the whole first What If.
