Do you think LotR will be finish now ( with the movie The Hobbit that's coming)

It would be sad if it was over...

the initial excitement is over...yes
but for the hardcore fans of the 'written works' it's not...the movie buffs however will look at it in 10, 20 years and say: "Wow! special effects back then sure were cheesy."

the up and coming thing now is the final episode of star wars...i think

i reckon LotR will last for longer than most films do..
and the books will be around for as long as there is still paper in this world!

I disagree. Films in the last 20 years have been becoming more and more timeless, the only that dates them are bad special effects and stuff like cars and clothing styles.

Though special effects are reaching the point where they do not look fake anymore, and photorealistic enough to last forever, or not to have glaring bad spots in them.

In addition, film and picture quality has become crystal clear since the mid eighties. Unlike color movies in the 50's,60's, 70's where the cinemtography looked dated and terrible. Like when you see it you know exactly about the time it was made.

Yep and the costumes etc... aren't from any particular time like the 70s or whatever, so thats another reason why it will last longer than films set in the present day.
