Why them?

Ok I have been thinking,

Why them?

They all seem to be connected in one way or another

ie: Hurley on the TV in the house that Jin took the dog from

ie: Sawyer meeting Jacks dad in the bar

So why them??

and I think that maybe the whole hatch might be a part of testing the human mind, pushing to see how far they can push before one of them snaps

a little crazy, i know, but its my guess big grin
